Looks good but doesn't do half of what it claims
Bought this little gizmo after reading the discription of it that it can capture from camcorder, vcr and tv and the fact that it was usb meant I didn't have the trouble of installing it internally. Once I had it up and running I tried testing it out by trying to capture from the vcr but no joy, only a black image appeared on my screen. I soon realised that it can only capture the av signal which doesn't include tapes or tv. Although online descriptions claim it can capture from all devices it sadly isn't true. The dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 is only meant for camcorders and no where on the packaging does it claim it can do anything else. The software that it comes with is also pretty poor with very few options apart from where you want to save your file and the record button. Conclusion: if you want to capture from a tv or video then go for the dazzle fusion which can do all and is only £10 more in price.

If you own an old analogue camcorder you'll love this
Wanting to transfer and edit my old 8mm films I came across the idea of using an analoge capture card to get old films into my PC. For under £100 compared to £650 for a decent DV Camcorder I was a little sceptical. (especialy after reading some of the other reviews) However, I was pleasantly surprised. If your PC has a good amount of memory (512Mb) then the quality as well as the smoothness is very good and most watchable on TV (if a little grainy at times). If I had one complaint it would be the fact that rendering files from AVI to MPEG takes a while however, if you can live with that then you wont be sorry.

Mixed Reviews - Rendering Problems
I bought this without doing any research into alternatives. I am having problems rendering and burning video cds. If you do a search on the web using Google with key words "dazzle video creator render" you will find various web sites containing mixed reviews of this product. The main issue seems to be related to rendering which I can't get to work at all. There are a few people who give it good reviews but they are in a minority. My advice is do some research before you buy!
